Only serious answers please. What are you dojng in terms of leadership, work , etc to drive towards the list? Have you previosly cofounded a startup, ran a company ?
Dude, someone that got that title said it was just a bunch of malarkey, from beginning to end.
Interesting! Can you share more?
He basically said that’s it’s all a facade and the people you see on LinkedIn using the Forbes 30 under 30 template for their profile pictures either get it from someone or make their own because Forbes doesn’t really give one. It’s like a big circle jerk of people that want a free trip to Detroit or whatever city is hosting it and to listen to people Forbes pays to speak so they call themselves feel important. I feel like the people who are truly the best and brightest don’t need this Forbes 30 under 30 accolade since it’s been exposed like that. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the post where the guy all that stuff but I tried to summarize it with a few additional opinions I observed.
I am interested and can share more details. Apparently, someone who is previously on the list can only nominate new person. Right? Are you the one?😊
Getting on the forbes 30 under 30 just says more about your network than it does your actual accomplishments. Source: friends who were on the list
I am interested , DM me if you are seriously looking for candidates
Are you a Software Engineer at EY?
I am a software consultant at EY
Don't go chasing the waterfalls..
In my 20s I wanted to make the "30 heaviest drinkers under 30". I've since cleaned up my act, but have no aspiration to make some kind of "top people under 40" list. If you are asking this question, the good news is you may be in the top 1% of ambitious people. The bad news is you may be prioritizing the wrong things. It's ok to spend some time reflecting on what you really want in life.
This is true. Reflecting on what you really want to do in life would have much greater dividends then a list. I am more curious than ambitious and wondering what really goes into getting through that gate! :)
I thought 30 under 30 is a paid promotion. If a company is willing to sponsor, they will contact Forbes to write a skit. Is the title that is something available for cheapskates who cannot afford?
I know a handful of personal acquaintances who have made 30 under 30 over the past few years. Knowing them personally, they are not the individuals in my circle who are doing the most impressive and groundbreaking work, but they are the most marketing and branding savvy — which has its own advantages, I guess. But please know that making that list does not validate your worth in anyways.
I think I get what you're saying. More often than not, having such a title doesn't bring any substantial value to the table. There are no potential higher uosodes but at the same time, what are the downsides? Probanly none.
If someone's pretty average as an engineer / scientist but made it to the list, it'd be a negative signal to me, even a big red flag, if I were to hire him for a technical role.
This title is absurd. There are many other things to do in life.
