I have to admit that what I am doing is wrong. But I somehow can not stop. I have recently started pouring vodka to my coffee and also drinking directly from a water bottle during the day. This is to cope with the fact that my manager and team are stressing me out. Can this bring me HR issues? I am not an aggressive drinker but I get extra happy to say it in a way. Do are you going through anything similar?
“Are you going through anything similar?” No option for “I drink at work”. 🤔🤔
How sustainable is this in the long run? What would cause you to change?
Where's the "I'm not a frat guy any more, a man who can handle liquor." option?
This is too much booze. You need to seek help for your healths sake. A lot of us with stressful jobs may have a few drinks in the evening - I am working to cut back on that myself. But if you cant stop yourself during the day, it has crossed into problem territory.
As long as you’re a functional drunk, it’s nobody’s business but yours.
Not a drunk. But I like your approach.
“I only drink”?
OP, I just have one question for you. On every comment you've said "I'm not addicted"," I'm not a drunk"..and I completely relate to how you think you are not addicted, but let me tell you one thing .I'm a binge drinker. I've been told by people that I'm a drunkard, but I choose to believe im not..because I don't feel dependent on it..like I won't go steal/borrow for drinks.. in my mind that is addiction if you go crazy without it . however, that is not true. You could very well be addicted to it..(in my brain, I know other people are right). It maybe a choice according to you, but you are making a choice for your body. Try this few days when it very hard and your sucky manager makes it even harder, try to avoid drinking. See your mood. Is it different from when you would have had a drink? Alcohol numbs you. Maybe it's preventing you from moving teams/jobs. Another thing, since you work at FB, I'm sure you believe science and medicine. Get a liver function test done. I'm sure the results will make you re think (been there). All the best to you! And regarding your HR thing. I do believe if you are found drinking at work, it is going to be bad for your career if word of mouth folllows you, Since you are abusing alcohol in a work place.
Also you said people don't understand me! Feel free to pm me. I felt the same way for a long time, but I think you already know the truth. You're too scared to accept that even though you are a good performer, don't throw up, can handle lots of it, have been drinking since 14, you can actually have a drinking problem. Again, medicine doesn't lie. Get a test done.
I ll actually go and do it and I ll post the results here to proof that you are wrong. I tried quitting a couple times but I had feedback that I was treating people in an overly aggressive way.
You sound so much like an alcoholic friend of a friend who was recently told by doctor that his liver was fucked up and he has only 6 months to live unless he quit right away. He is right now in rehab going through a nasty withdrawal. You are on a slippery slope OP. Fix this now by therapy/rehab/whatever. Emotional drinking is fucked up.
Smoke weed instead
I don't want to get addicted
Drinking is more addictive!
