About to start a new job soon and gonna leave my current position. It requires a drug test and due to health issues I take 2 things. Norco (chronic kidney stones) and some CBD supplements to help me sleep due to sleep apnea. I took one dosage of CBD oil with a tiny bit THC to try it (almost a month ago). Didn’t like it and stayed with normal THC free CBD. Am I screwed and if it comes back positive what can I do?
You should be fine my man. Is this position in California?
Yes
First off, if you've got some career experience under your belt you should tell the company to shove their discriminatory policies up their assess. But since you're either early on in career path, on visa type restrictions or just ok with supporting efforts solely designed to punish people who are different: Government sometimes tests for CBD (military), otherwise it's normally not part of a standard test. The little bit you took a month ago should be gone by now also. Those figures you hear about THC staying in your system for a month are reefering 🐒 to chronic 🐒 users. Heavy users will build up more in their fat stores that take longer then the fat cells of a casual user to clear. Getting high once will only really stick around for a few days. (8 YOE, refuse to work anywhere that tests outside of cases where they expect someone's actually high on the job)
A month out from a single dose of THC, you should be totally fine. CBD is now unscheduled, and is actually kinda hard to test for even still. Assuming you’re not a driver, working on potentially dangerous machinery, working closely with DoD or some other government entity, etc at your new job, here’s a fail-safe: Get a medical MJ card to ease your mind. Many white collar employers that used to flag positive cannabis tests as grounds to decline employment, won’t do so anymore if you can prove that you are a medical marijuana patient. The reason being HIPAA constraints and wanting to avoid lawsuits.
Hold on why u taking norco for chronic kidney stones . Shouldn’t the doctor treat the root cause (like allopurinal to reduce Uric acid ) instead of symptom .
They did but multiple formed so randomly they pass. I keep the norco for emergencies.
Regarding the THC you’ll be fine on a urine test. To be extra cautious, be well hydrated before hand, just to ensure that there are no metabolites sneaking in from a cbd product that was not properly tested. Also lay off the cbd if you can for a few days before and avoid citrus, especially grapefruit. I heard about a study that showed cbd can metabolize to thc in presence of acid. Grapefruit in particular can amplify the effects of certain drugs - so just to be safe, stick with water.
Norco was prescribed and CBD isn’t.
