I have an on-site at FB coming up! Any advice? I don't know System Design enough yet and I am torn between Leetcode, Interview Cake, Coderust, etc for prep. My graphs/trees/dp/backtracking is shit. Panic attack. Should I push and ask to do the onsite a week or two from the date so I can be better prepared? Is that better than going in shitty?
I see you work at Capital One which is not on par with the big tech companies where people regularly interview coding questions. Taking this assumption into account, I suggest that you delay the onsite interview by at least a month. I have cleared Facebook phone screens 3 times but failed at onsite, so I know what I am talking about. Prep Leetcode FB tagged questions really well. FB loves speed. They are known to ask 2 to 3 DP questions in one 45 mins interview. For system design use Grokking the system design interview. I have done mocks after preparing from this and I have got surprisingly great scores from mock interviewers from Facebook and Google. All the best.
Yes, just delay it saying some project or other thing came up. These large companies are very understanding -- heck even if you said you need more time to prepare they get it as well (that's why FB and Google does all these interview prep sessions).
Take 2 or 3 months to prepare. Most recruiters are fine with that. Don't risk losing the year due to a failed loop.
I think you should prepare more before on-site
yes you should
