I interviewed for swe role earlier this year, made it onsite but got rejected. Another FB recruiter reached out for a Production Er role, the role actually fits my profile better. Does this imply my interview last time was close, what are the odds second time around. I am wondering if it’s worth investing time studying and prepping again?
Interviews are noisy. Try again! PE is not an easier interview, but if it fits you better it is a more fun role.
Thanks for your feedback, any pointers on what to focus on? Apart from the obvious.
Coding is relatively simpler than SWE. I highly recommend getting familiar some graph and arrays. For the second interview which is all about system - expect to study Linux kernels. You definitely want to know enough about system calls. Pro tips: use the Internet and grab a few books. FB recruiters are generally very good at giving you tips on passing your interviews. ask them. Leetcode 15-30 mixed of easy and medium questions will be enough.... no idea about onsite since I accepted an offer already so I did not move past 2nd. But I heard onsite will be very system heavy: coding is on the same bar as round one and more medium-leetcode. I strongly recommend write your code in Python, but you can choose bash and Java I believe. PE is facebook’s Google’s SRE. Lastly, behavior is always where people fail, this is no brainer. But let’s prepare for first round, yeah?
Dont swes at LI and FB(non intern conversion) get paid the same?
Not when you consider refreshers and bonuses.
How much better is fb than LI?
Not all about the $$$

SWE > Prod Eng Don't let anyone claim otherwise
In terms of what? Feel free to s/prod eng/sre-swe if that's more your vocabulary.
At FB at least they make the exact same as Swe.
