FSA medical bill issue

i used my FSA card to pay for a big medical bill, then found out it wasnt authorized bevause it was a procedure from last year. i was just going to adjust the dates by one year and send the edited bill to my FSA company to satisfy them, otherwise i have to pay them back and I cant afford to. is this a terrible idea? not trying to wind up in jail over this forgery...

It’s fraud.

Yes, it is a terrible idea. They will know because their job is to catch people like you. Anyway, it might work out,you never know. Most likely not end up in jail though

They are just the administrator. The one you are really defrauding is the IRS. I would pay it back.

Technically, he would be defrauding his employer (that's how those trusts work)

If they already have the bill from last year, this is a HORRIBLE idea

It is fraud. Is it worth the risk to your job?
