thanks for the PTO advice. Now help me with comp negotiation. Just spoke with recruiter and got TC details for L4 non-eng role at FB in SF. Seems like a lowball to me. Would be base cut, but slight increase in total comp. Fortunately, I’m expecting two other competing offers which should help negotiation process. TC: FB Level: L4 (currently L4) Base: $110k Bonus: 33% variable Equity: $40k Loc: SF orig post on PTO: Considering an offer (non-eng) from Facebook, but ive heard they have very strict PTO. (believe its 21 days) Im getting married next year and have a 3 week honeymoon planned already. From my wedding and honeymoon alone im basically maxed out of PTO. Plus, I have other weddings to attend next year which require a few days off as well. Can anyone from FB confirm PTO policy?/whether they think ~30 days off next year would be an issue. also, if anyone has any advice on when to tell FB about days off. (i.e. whether tell recruiter before accepting or wait until start date and inform hiring manager day 1) thanks
would you make a career decision based on 21 vs 30 PTO?
Fair point. But it’s difficult enough to prove value starting a new role and taking a lot of PTO initially. Even more difficult when you are starting a new role, taking time off and taking time off is discouraged.
3 week honeymoon is only 15 days so you still have 6 days to play with. Will that be enough?
You can go into PTO debt or make it unpaid time off.
FB’s 🐀 race culture tastes better than honeymoon. You can borrow max 10 day PTO in advance, no need to ask recruiters because it’s not their job nor do they have control over this. Just tell your manager the honeymoon plan after you joined a team.
You also get 11 holidays and unlimited sick days. Just let your recruiter know and they’ll make it known to the manager.
You got all the advice, where are the TC details?
Now that I have the PTO advice. Help with negotiation. Just spoke with recruiter and got TC details. Seems like a lowball to me. Would be base cut. Tell them that it would be base cut for you and that you won’t consider it if the new comp is at a higher end of your role. Wait and see what they come up with.
Screw those weddings. Go for FB💵
