As a hater of so-called WLB for high TC earners, I strongly support Facebook and Amazon for driving home to their employees the point that people deserve high TC only after busting out 80+ hour work weeks and for firing free loaders. Free loaders who whine about benefits and family time give our industry a bad rep. Next time you start complaining about your WLB, remind yourself of doctors busting ass doing far riskier stuff than you making 300-400k TC at 45 years of age. Extra credits to Amazon for being extremely frugal with perks and reminding employees that everything in this world has a cost of production. I would love to see Facebook do away with their perks too. #FuckFreeLoaders #GoSherylSandberg #Capitalism #ItsAlwaysDayOne #IfYouWantWLBgoTeach #YouChoseThisJob #ZuckBezosSherylPowerTrio
Good boy! Tim 🍎 is proud.
Marc needs to be fired. He inflated your titles way too much.
K, I'll let him know.
If you truly don’t care about WLB why don’t you go be an investment banker? You’ll make way more money and it’s a cooler job that people are impressed by. #SDEsHaveNoIdea
You think engineers are capable for everything? Investment banker, give me a break
I am not interested or skilled in finance, plain and simple. It’s like asking me to become a surgeon 🤷♂️ Also, I am not saying people should shift to better/worse WLB companies.
Dude, you better get help, you're displaying traits of Stockholm syndrome in your posts.
Is troll polls the new thing here?
@OP Very likely you don’t have a girlfriend or boyfriend nearby. That’s why you posted this.
You need to realize how incredibly stagnant wages have been since the 1970s in this country. Tech is the only field that’s really seen any kind of salary growth, and that’s just a supply side problem that will work itself out eventually; then we’ll all be back to earning $80k/year. You can praise capitalism all you want, but the fact remains that capitalism is only rewarding you right now because it hasn’t finished sourcing your cheaper replacement.
Don't know where this Amazon's reputation of bad WLB comes from. Personally and most of my friends have excellent WLB and Amazon pay is decent for that. Especially after hearing things about FB or startup WLB, Amazon feels like paradise.
It depends on the team. Same with culture. My first three years were amazing, then my manager left to work on JEDI and my team got split up. After just 6 months I ended up in a really bad part of AWS where the experience is very different.
Naw. Real gig is getting a job having fun and having a trust fund. Friend is a grandkid of a founder of PNC bank. Has his engineering Masters from Duke but got tired of working and just quit. It came out slowly. Box seats to sports games, (turns out the company sponsors and they get free use). New Volvo in cash, about 3 years of friendship it his wife admitted they basically have a 9 figure trust fund. So people not working have more than 99.99% of this forum. Thats generational wealth and that is the WLB gig you want.
You don't have family and friends, do you? Anybody with loved ones around them know the value of WLB.
I have family and friends. They bust ass all day too. #surroundYourselfWithTheRightPeople
Its obviously a troll/sarcasm
