I had my onsite for ML eng role a week back. The recruiter reached out today and said that they were taking the discussion offline, and that the decision was about leveling. He didn't clarify if it was a yes/no on hiring. What does this mean in general? I have around 1.5 yoe after Masters and 1.5 yoe before. Thanks in advance!
They think you are eligible to work there but figuring out an appropriate level. That determines compensation and scope/responsibility
This is common if the feedback is mixed. Often a candidate is targeted for a terminal level but the feedback suggests their not ready yet. This usually leads to a leveling discussion with the interview team and hiring VP. I can't say for sure if you'll get the job but it might be due to your degree and experience level.
That was what I feared :( Hopefully will hear back from the recruiter soon.
Sounds like good news
