Facebook vs Apple for SWE with 7 YOE
In the Final stages of interviews with these two companies, have other offers but I’d like to work for one of these in my next gig. Facebook as a product company and their wlb doesn’t excite me as much but their engineering talent pool is top notch I love Apple products and their services but engineering talent is not sub par with Facebook and Google. Also, Apple seems more ethical company to work for Tc:240k

In Apple if you join the wrong team. You are over.
Apples WLB can be just as bad or worse than FB.
Apple HR protect bad managers. And you are stuck if you are in wrong team!
Well, you can always quit
It gets harder to leave as you gain seniority, especially if you have appreciated RSUs that other companies cannot match.
Id say FB if you want to invest in your career, Apple if you want more WLB.
I don’t get this. When I did a screen at Facebook the people who interviewed me were so clueless and uninteresting I told *them* I wasn’t interested in proceeding. My coworkers here are great. What fucking brilliant engineering talent does Facebook supposedly have? I literally don’t know anyone whose skills I respect who would work there. (I don’t really know why I interviewed. The recruiter seemed oddly nice and I guess I figured why not?) Anyway. If we lose decent people it’s to google. And judging by the inbound most of the former Facebook folks get rejected for my team whenever we find one we hope might be good and give them an interview. Admittedly, the teams I work with at Apple are excellent and so there’s a lot of folks outside that where the engineering talent seems to be... significantly less good. So if your other offer is with one of those maybe it wouldn’t make sense to join. :)
