Facebook and Google employees, how did you prepare for interviews? Also, were you always better than your peers at algorithms?
interviewbit.com Work through it and I guarantee you get an offer at both.
It's the cliche answer, but lots of Leetcode. My algo was never particularly good though I found it fun. Lots of people have been putting interview tips online these days, this guide helped give me a good idea of what to study (and where to read up): https://github.com/yangshun/tech-interview-handbook
Interviewed with other companies and went for it.
Did about 50 leetcode questions
I appreciate the responses guys!
I’m a mathematician and I used to get high and do a leetcode hard for fun every evening. Did it for maybe 3 months then passed Goog.
One guy was super impressed with my algo skills during the interview. I almost told him he should see me high. Did pretty bad in the system design question. But now that I’ve been here a while I would kill those too.
Is it true that we can solve problems with ease when high on weed? I’ve always wondered but never tried
They just eat sleep and breathe leetcode
I actually used codefights. Ran through part of their algorithms track as a refresher but only finished about 30% of it. I felt woefully unprepared going in, but decided to go through with it anyways as a learning experience. Worth noting I interviewed for front-end. :)
Firecode.io - leetcode was a little too unorganized for my taste
I recommend Skiena's Algorithm Design Manual - super useful & fun read
Had him in undergrad, great guy
Do most people find the portions with mathematical proofs obtuse? Or do I need a refresher?
