I was at a party with someone who has ~10 years experience in product and VC, and an MBA from a top program. They said that they had just gotten an offer from Apple for $400K per year - $215k base / $145k stock / $50K bonus. A bunch of folks at the party started debating if that offer was real or not - some thought too high, some thought too low (go figure). Any Apple people able to tiebreak for us and satisfy our nosey curiosity?
My old coworker just made $10k on his biweekly check from all the overtime splicing fiber on cuts. Man I miss the field sometimes.
Haha, the guy talking about his offer was sort of a blowhard, not my favorite party talk either :) With that, my friends and I all want each other to be making what's fair to our skills, so we happily trade comp numbers with each other - if you don't know what people are making, I think it's hard to price yourself fairly. None of us have good intel on what packages look like at Apple for something like an M1, thought this could be a good way to learn and report back. The data out there tends to be for ICT1, 2, or 3...
Offer is either rather stock heavy for Apple (435k in 4 years). Base seems ok. Bonus looks high, probably quoting assuming top 5% performance
I have a lot of friends at 🍎, depending on level, that’s a legit offer.
$400k for 10 years work experience seems low. FANG folks would be making that in half the time.
We don’t live in the same bay area
For good 10yr exp., the base is reasonably good but stock and bonus are pretty low.
Pol ? Are you saying that someone with 3-4 years experience would be making 400k in Bay Area as an engineer? That sounds far from truth.
Difficult but not impossible. I have folks in my network falling under this category.
Seems possible.
Wow ppl brag about salary at parties?
“Parties”
When you have nothing else going for you, it makes sense.
