Have anybody felt depressed right after pursuing your dream? I’m sure the path leading to the dream was beautiful. I always felt energetic and optimistic. I wanted to work as an engineer in Silicon Valley since young age. So I found my path to be one. Now, here I am writing code for customer, solving their problem and earning good money in the early stage of my life. I’ve noticed that what I’ve dreamed about is totally underwhelming. Lots of people can do this. People I’ve met do really great with their life like, all of them have purpose in life. Whereas I don’t know where am I’m headed to. Seems like I could really do better if I have aimed a bit higher. I feel like now I am lacking the direction in life. P.S.: I’m under 25
Aim for higher tc
Don’t want to chase for money for no reason
Chasing the money isn’t no reason, what you have to do to compete is the reason.
Under 25 is the reason. Grow up <— pun intended.
Hope it could help
Get married, you will change your view of life. Then kids. You’ll then be remembering this phase as the best you ever had. Responsibilities does that to a person.
Or get a pet. A cat is better than a kid any day.
Cat is barely any responsibility. You can leave them alone with food water liter box for days. Try a dog if you want responsibility. I can’t leave my dog alone for more than 4 hours or he’ll fuck up my carpet.
What’s are your hobbies? What do you like to do outside of work that you’re passionate about?
Yeah I should think on these kind of things. Because till now I didn’t spare much time for these kind of activity. So I thing I will start learning new things like Music, Surfing along with my job which could help.
You are not chasing money. You are basically trying to get pass the poverty line...Go get a job at a better company and work in a fast pace company and more smart/ambitious people. You are too young to be depressed. You haven't seen nothing yet.
I think I needed this kind of words as of my background getting job was everything. So I looked at this as an end. But yeah, I think I have to change my view from now.
If you aren’t happy, change.
I’ve been there. You may be in the right field but not the right project or possibly company. Making lots of money is great but if you’re working on a project that has meh impact.. it’s meh. Think through what truly interests you. What type of problems you enjoy solving for and what motivates you.. gets you excited.. up and going ... talk to a therapist and a career counselor..
I thought of it but isn’t it too late? I’m 24 yo and most of the people already know about their passion already around this age.
OP, I started doing my first tech work at 25. Please stop thinking that way. You’ll have that thought for the rest of your life.
Once you have achieved something it seems very trivial, bit it's not. Try to keep something as continuous learning, whether in your career or life as in a hobby it learning. That helps greatly. When you feel you are done, that's when boredom sets in. It's never enough when it comes to knowledge and seeking happiness
You’re too young to have a purpose. Enjoy life and pursue new experiences! Spend some money.
