Let's say you raise 500k for your seed round. How much should the salary be for software engineers co founders? I don't want to look like I'm scamming the investors by putting a high salary. At the same time, I want to be fair to my self. Location: NYC
Don’t go to investors for seed capital. Start the company with your own dough, build an awesome MVP and only then talk with VCs and negotiate hard. Don’t let them own your scrotum.
How do you get your own capital to that level of you haven't started anything successful before?
High tc from job and save for a year. Should be able to save enough to float you 6 months.
I would say 60k in usa
Not in NYC
Actually I did mean nyc. This is manhattan with roommates and ramen.
You are expected to take the bare minimum you need to survive. As little as possible, ramen diet. No luxury, not even Netflix, you don't have time for that. I just saw that you are married The bare minimum you need in addition to your wife's income to survive.
My very good friend (who I live with) raised a seed round with his partner for ~1.2 M after completing the YC program. My friend (the CTO) and his co-founder are paying themselves the standard Seed Round founders salary, which is ~55k in the bay area. I saw somewhere else that you thought 60k was too little, but it seems like that is standard even for two people who raised twice as much money as you. How many founders are there? How many employees are there? If you really believe in your product, then that shouldn't be far too little, and if anything less than 100k it is far too little, then you're probably not putting yourself in a good situation
Whatever you would pay your first software engineer hire
