Hi all, I've scheduled my on-site with Amazon for a mid-level front end engineer position. Wondering if I should focus more on DS and Algorithms or more on JavaScript/browser performance. The phone interview had some algorithm problems, but modified a bit for front end. Just wondering how other people's front end onsites went. Thanks!
Leadership principles x10. Make sure you have a leadership principles story for every item on your CV. You should also be prepared for CPU architecture questions, have understanding of PIC microcontrollers and know the latest ARM instruction set. I recently interviewed for embedded role and my system design questions were around large scale distributed systems. So be prepared for whatever your interviewer has knowledge in. Hopefully they won't pull someone from Amazon warehouse into your loop :).
Leadership principles..yes...but not much at a sde2 level...I have seen many loops which don't concentrate too heavily on LPs for sdes...but cpu architecture questions as a frontend Dev won't be asked...
Know your RGB values. If you tell them how to make emerald green when they wanted jungle green, you're finished.
Lol
Are you applying for Software Development Engineer or Web Development Engineer? WDE are expected to know about JavaScript, browsers, http requests, etc with little DS/algs while SDEs must know system design, algorithm, data structures, etc

here's a very recent article about preparing for a front end interview from a current engineering manager at Amazon. Could be useful. http://davidshariff.com/blog/preparing-for-a-front-end-web-development-interview-in-2017/
Nice, thank you!
