How do Indian swe deal with this. Right now my GC wait is for >10 years and that forces me not to change my line of work or risk loosing my work visa. What's the best way to switch reach from sde to sdm , is it safe to do how do? TC: 330 YOE : 10 Currently not at oracle.
The most stupid shit we have to deal with 😑
Sounds entitled, doesn’t it?
nope
I think the bigger issue is you cannot start a side business while on h1b and are restricted to work only on your job. Mobility seems possible but bureaucratic.
Yup this too or work on your own idea on the side.
Moving out of US is one solution
Wait for Trump to finish his second term
Priority date is assigned to you as the individual, regardless of the role. So you can switch roles after getting I-140 without worrying about losing priority date. The only thing to watch out for is that the new role may or may not be considered “specialty occupation “, and hence H1B may not be easy to get. But this is not a problem with SDM role.
Search for SDM/SDE posts with 15 years experience and people working for FAANG (and from really good schools). Even with right field, qualifications and experience the denials have shot up.
Why is USA not voting for H1B policy change to help this issue. Are they being selfish. Looks like once becoming citizens, they don’t want to change the policy.
Only a few thousand become citizens each year. The other million is the vote that counts.
I am curious if the queue will become zero if country quota is eliminated.
