Giving notice before bonus
Bonus payout is March 29th at Uber for US employees. If gave notice on March 1st and let my manager know I want to stay until March 29th to collect my bonus, could they let me go before hand?
The safest thing to do is give notice after the bonus hits your bank account, end of story.
Yeah. If you want the bonus, give your notice once the bonus hits your account.
Don’t trust any date. The only date you want to trust the the date that money hits your bank
Why are you leaving before ipo?
Who cares about the IPO. I already vested a few years. Cant put my life on hold until the IPO. Manager sucks and makes my life a living hell
Why don’t you consider changing the team?
Don’t leave until that money is in your account. Bonuses are discretionary and are unlikely to pay it if you choose to leave before the payout

Leaving right before IPO sounds like a great way to dump shares without being subject to a holding period since you’re no longer an employee.
Almost certain that you are still subject to the holding period as a former employee. Or else the flood gates would be open with people leaving just before IPO.
What is the process of changing team? Do you need to go through multiple rounds of interviews or its based on your performance in current team?
If you give notice before the bonus payout they may not pay you the bonus at all. Check the terms of the agreement.
