Is it unwise to think one can land a 200k job right after college?🤔

Here's Microsoft standard offer to new grads this year:
    Base - 118k
    Stock (over 4 years) - 160k
    Signon cash - 50k
In addition to this they'll get about 15k target merit bonus.

That's over 178k ongoing and 228k the first year.

I know Facebook and Google pay even more. So, it's very much possible you'll be able to have 200k tc your first year.

This is not standard. This is the highest offer they give out.
And Fb/Google don't pay a lot more to new grads

I've seen the cash bonus go up to 100k at least in a couple cases and stock going to 200k in one.

I the buckets last year were 0/35/70/120/150k. I've never seen anything above it. It must have been a very very special case.
The cash bonus yeah, might get to 100k. But definitely not common

Man they gave $100k of rsu to senior in sf how could that be standard offer for new grad? Signon is peanuts in most cases too. Ms is good for benefit but sucks big in tc for anyone below 66

Only if you have no leverage. MSFT comp is really good for new grads and if you come in from a good company. I moved from Uber and they beat my comp easily. Others move from less good companies and their comp is shit.

If you need leverage that’s not standard pkg. Also they probably over level you to boost the compensation. Ms pays very well after certain level but not for low-mid level engs. All these mean that is not standard pkg for new grad.

I meant you don't get a good offer for industry hires (60-65) unless you have leverage. Standard offers at MS are great for new grads and above L66. And comp is great for high performers.

Oracle pays 125k + 5200 shares over four year + 30k sign on + 10k (after tax) relocation cash to new grads from certain schools. I took it because I liked the team. My friend just let google match it.

It’s ambitious but not impossible. Also depends on your field.
