I'm interviewing with GS and I just saw this article, https://news.efinancialcareers.com/us-en/3001047/goldman-sachs-technology-jobs I was expecting to go to NY for GS but I'm worrying that in some recent days, I might be forced to move to some other states as described in the article. Is this real happening in firms in NY? What about Marcus/Marquee teams specific?
Jobs moving to India and Poland? This is what happens when US restricts high skilled legal immigration. Jobs moving offshore!
Yeah because getting a bachelors or masters degree from an American university and memorizing leetcode is considered “high skill”.
You misunderstood what @JfBezos said.
You’re going to end up in Dallas. Compliance is also moving there.
Recruiter told me that will I be okay with relocating to NY. Why would they make people to move to NY and then Dallas after that? Why not directly post the job in Dallas office?
GS was moving a ton of back office people across divisions to SLC when I was there over 5 years ago. Happening for years.
It's possible but if the job you're applying for is specifically listed as NY I wouldn't worry. We still have a substantial NY tech presence.
I don't know why companies like this don't want to be for the tech. It makes them billion but they see it as a cost.
If I'm told to migrate to some other cities, how much time will I have for that? a month? 3 month? in advance?
Reasonable time will be given and you can ask for exceptions. Otherwise take a severance if you don't want to move.
Reasonable time will be given and exceptions
Lots of the operations for Marcus is in SLC. Decent tech presence as well.
I mean 200 West has a bunch of seats that aren't going anywhere...the pay is so subpar for NYC it doesn't really matter that much lol.
Yes the new hubs are Dallas and BLR
This isn’t huge news. Banks already moved most of their back office functions including software support to low cost regions a long time ago. Places like Salt Lake City, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville etc.
