Good time to join uber?
Currently sde2 (61) at MS. Wondering if Uber is great for TC given it might go for ipo?

You understand equity needs to vest before you can exercise it and one year cliff is the norm? You understand Uber will IPO sometime this month and if not most likely sometime this year so its too late to get that equity before it goes public? You understand once Uber is public, you can just buy the stock with your money? You understand that the equity that is given to you as compensation from working at Uber will be the same as the stock you buy on the public exchange? What would you accomplish by joining Uber the same month it IPOs?
He will get 409a valuation share price which is not the same as once a company goes public. RSUs are granted, not bought and those can be very fruitful if the company wants you and provides a decent amount. But I don’t think you understand.
