Anyone have experience with Google countering an offer when you are thinking of leaving? How did you go about the conversation -- "I'm planning to leave; comp is a strong reason; here's the offer letter"?
Roughly, although there s no reason to give them the offer letter.
Without looking and getting an offer, you can bring it up and say if they can review your comp and level up. Of course, you start this by how you are committed , like to continue at google, love your team etc. if that doesn’t work, just get an offer and leave - don’t take a counter offer, they don’t deserve at that point!
Never accept a counter offer from current employer.
This isn't really relevant advice in 2017 for large companies.
How it is irrelevant? You might have one asshole manager who has a good memory and will retaliate when you're vulnerable.
