Google HC - TM - when does offer compensation gets decided
If evaluation goes to HC before team match, does the offer with compensation details happen as soon as HC approves or after approval + team match? at which stage does offer happen at Google? and when do they ask if interviewing somewhere else/ competing offer so that they can decide salary accordingly?
And when do they ask if I have competing offers or other interviews? Is it before HC approval or after or after offer or before making offer?
Before approval or sometimes after.
Does having an interview with other Faang companies help than having an actual competing offer?
Yes it does help in negotiation. In other stages, I don't think so. Just having another offer is enough for them to expedite the process.
You mean negotiation before it even goes to HC correct? Eg if I have onsite with Amazon, how much can I negotiate? How will I know what I am negotiating against without hc approval?
Yes, you can get the offer letter without matching a team. After HC approval, it will take a week to 10 days to get your final review done and get the offer letter. Team matching can be done slowly later.
Does this getting offer without TM thing only apply to strong candidates? I’ve heard borderline ones need manager support pass HC.
Kind of, yes. If you have another deadline, they usually send the packet to HC and even roll out an offer without TM.
