I was interviewed for a non-engineering role over hangouts by the hiring manager and I received feedback from recruiter that though the HM has decided to move forward with other candidates, he has forwarded my profile for another role which he felt based on the interview, matched my expertise and experience better. Does this really happen? Or was the denial sugar coated?
If they wanted to deny you, they would have done so. The fact that you're instead being considered for a different role is a good thing.
Thanks!
Most likely you won’t get the role. Since he referred you to a “better fit”, he can pass on you.
Actually, for certain because the recruiter mentioned that HM has decided to move forward with other candidates :)
I have done this. You’re a good fit but not the role you are interviewing for. It’s definitely a good thing. You may end up liking the new role better. Good luck!
@OP are these interviews based on resume or algorithms and data structures?
This was, as I mentioned, non engineering role. Questions were related to past experience framed in the context of JD.
Of course it happens
Thanks, so I still have hope. And does the process start all over again for the new role? To be honest, HM interview was the first step in the process :)
