This is the lowest Google offer I’ve ever seen. Shit I know a New Grad making almost three times that in stock although he negotiated a lot.

Did he have counter offers ?
I have never heard a case (atleast in the last 3 years) where an offer was changed substantially without additional data points from the candidate (like counter offers or salary increase at the current company etc).

The most I've heard is someone getting a bit more signon bonus.

So a new grad making "three" times that is very rare and most likely they had offers from FB And Uber / Snap / Airbnb

Specifically I mean 300k stock, 50k signing, same base but that is the highest I’ve seen. Yes he had counter offers, I said he negotiated in the previous comment if you read carefully.

Thanks. I did read the "negotiated" part but misunderstood..I always understand the "negotiated" (in this context) as just asking for more money and threatening to walkaway ..but I guess showing counter offers counts as "negotiating". Thanks

The highest I've heard is 116/250/50. 300k stock is amazing!

For MTV is definitely low. Can’t say about Seattle. Seems decent. But yes Google equity offers have been declining the last two years, likely caused at least in part by the deflation of unicorn valuations. Just get a better competing offer. They don’t really low ball — they will always match or beat reasonable offers.

I would shoot for 110k equity and 115k base for Seattle area (based on other new grad offers I've been hearing)

That's higher than I would have expected tbh. You can play hard ball and get a sign on at least, but must be willing to walk away

This is really really bad. Normal Google offers are 116/100/15 these days, but many people negotiate up to more than twice the stock and signing.

The numbers you quoted are only +6/+10/+15 from what OP posted. So I would not call it "really really" bad.

That’s over 31k difference. It is bad cause shit like this adds up year after year.

Also, the Google default offer is already on the lower side. It's not really really bad, true, but it's certainly not what I expected from Google.

      160k base ? Which team?
      Nov 23, 2017
    • Facebook KingVegeta
Equity, not base. Also compensation doesn't depend on team. You are hired first and you get to decide on a team in the first 6-8 weeks after you start.

That’s close to the default MTV Google offer as the poster above said. It may be a bit lower since you’re in Seattle. The burden is on you to find competing offers.

Competition from other companies is down and the market is saturated at lower levels (at least in Ads we are over saturated with L3s to the point it’s discussed openly org-wide).

If this is eng, it's lower than a low ball for someone with grad degree, two years work experience, and returning intern.

Wow, this is so fucking low. I guess Google doesn't need any more L3. I've 1 year of exp and my offer is much higher than this in MTV. 2016 grads were giving out 250 stocks that was worth about 200k at the time

Stock seems pretty low. I wouldn't worry about the sign on, you could probably pull 25k but I'd fight for 2x stock.
