I've scheduled an onsite for SWE role to be held in early Dec. I've been bombing phone interviews as I have not been preparing that much (Google skipped the phone screen) and need a plan that I can execute in ~5 weeks. I have 6 YOE and am expecting a system design question. I just gave my recruiter dates today so I haven't gotten the onsite prep packet. Blind, what's the best way to prepare?
I'm going to state an unpopular opinion. This is something that worked for me. IMO Google doesn't venture beyond LC medium. What matters more is the correctness of your solution, a thorough check to ensure all test cases pass and asking the right questions bat the right time. For system design, you will not be expected to know the absolute details of every component you use, but ensure that you cover the problem broadly. Think about how you would implement something like YouTube or nearest neighbors in maps etc.
LC. Every category. Every night do a few problems and if you're stuck brush up hard on the topics it relates to.
