What are the downsides of taking the cash option with relocation benefits. Anyone with some experience with it and possibly its tax implications will be appreciated.
Had $60k Reloc bonus. I had to cash out... Do the math and don’t forget to account for the hours you will have to spend doing things. Those can be exhausting.
Could you please share what you had decided finally. I am in same situation. Any deciding factor between two.
What is the tax rate for cash out option? Also google pay taxes gross up if you take relocation package, but are these taxes calculated based on when you join the company? ie if we join towards last quarter , will the tax payment be less?
Might be different for you but for me the cash out was waaaaaaaay less then what I am actually getting in benefits. Temp rent and biz class flights alone are already as much as my cash out offer. So on top of that there is shipping all my stuff from europe, rental car for months, relo assistance... plenty of benefits

I used the cash frugally and it became a good deal
