I'm currently negotiating with Google (via internal recruiter). The offer team has not included a signing bonus (TC 207k) but there is some non specific mention of relocation assistance. I asked about a signing bonus (15k in competing offer) and recruiter said that they don't really do signing bonuses. This seems counter to what I've found online. Can any Google people shed light on signing bonuses and also how relocation compensation works?
In my case, I didn’t get cash signing bonus. I only got sign in stock (vested over 4 years). Also for relocation, I took cash option ($36k pre-tax)
How does that work exactly? The relocation I mean. How is it computed and what was the alternative to cash?
I.e., if it's by distance, I'm moving from ~10k miles away.
Google definitely does signon cash bonuses
No sign on for me but a very generous relo package. Moving from abroad. Cash out option was 41k I believe. To cash out doesn’t make sense for us as we will be far over this number with the move and all the perks. Just flights in biz class and 3 months temp housing alone gets us close to that number. Have to say, pretty impressed with the relo and the process. Best I’ve seen.
Google does do signing bonus. I'm not sure how that is impacted though if you're also getting relocated. In the end, if they really want you - they'll include a sign on bonus
I got relo and signing. All depends on how much they want you.
