So had Google phone screen, went well I guess but. While scheduling recruiter denied to give the name who will be interviewing, as it's against Google policy. second, when I got a call it came as private number. What if I had not picked up that call. Third, not go racist, but guy's pronounce totally off may that's how he sounded on call, might not be in person, having hard time to understand. Forth, there was lots of echo on call, like he was in some covered booth n making call. Anyone experienced this?
Why do you need the interviewer's name? Most of the time I forget the interviewer's name five minutes after they tell me anyway.
Knowing the name is phycology to be get contacted to personal.
I find it very ironic you're complaining about the interviewer being hard to understand while yourself being completely incomprehensible.
If you speak / sound the same way that you write, I imagine that the Google caller probably gave the same feedback to your recruiter about you. Congrats, it's over, you dont have to worry anymore...
Happened to me today, I could barely understand what the interviewer was saying due to heavy accent and bad call quality. Half the time I was asking to repeat / rephrase, it was really off-putting.
What were you asked?
1. Ideally there is no need to know the name of the interviewer. 2. You had already been notified of the time and date, do you should expect a call at that time. If you don't pick up, you would be reached using other ways. 3. You could have asked for clarification or get stuff in writing in GDocs. If it was totally not understandable, you could have ended the interview and reached out to the recruiter with the doubt. 4. You can just point it out, the interviewer will fix that.
Your suggestions are valid, have tried all that, which kind a wasted time though, but I didn't expected it from GOOGLE. Just concerned how it may impact on evaluation of my interview!
Drains nailed it.
