I am interviewing for Google for Program Manager for Strategy and Operations role. Can you give me some pointers on what questions to expect during the phone screen and then during the actual interview?
Expect lots of questions (asking for examples from previous roles)) about problem solving, cross functional collaboration, influencing across orgs and using data to find solutions. Make sure to have a few examples along these themes in your back pocket. Try to not repeat the same project as an example over and over again, even though it is ok to pull from the same one a couple of times. Use your questions at the end very strategically. I used the time to probe on a topic that came up in the interview that then helped me in subsequent interviews, eg you asked about working across levels, is this a significant feature of how programs are delivered in Google?
PS the phone screen will be pretty much a regular interview like I've described, but maybe not as probing. It's usually a psycho/lack of relevant experience screener
Did you get through the phone screen ?
Thanks a lot for the info guys. Yes it was more of a general conversation about the role. Now need tips for the real deal. Any pointers for the hangout interview and the in person rounds?
Phone screening should be easier, should focus on formal inteview
Can I ask how and when you applied for the role? Trying to find out when people are usually for first screens even.
