Google recruiter wants to chat after on-site interview

Hi folks, two weeks ago I had my Google’s onsite interviews is the Bay Area. Yesterday, my recruiter send me an e-mail just asking “are you free to chat sometime on Friday”. According to your experience is this going to be a rejection? Or an offer? Thxs

hmm, I don't know why they build up the suspense.

That’s exactly what bothers me... the suspense... I prefer news to be delivered as soon as possible, especially bad ones

My G phone interview recruiter was like this. But onsite recruiter was much better. Called me as soon as the HC was done with no suspense.

Based on my own experience, probably it's a rejection. I hate the suspense too, wish they would just say it in the email already

You can never tell. I’ve gotten an offer from google and the email was really short and impersonal. I assume they send the same message for both reject/offer

Could be an offer or a rejection. When I interviewed with Google the recruiter sent me a similar email and then told me I didn’t do well on the interview, asked if I had any questions, and wished me luck. However at a different company a recruiter asked if I had time to chat without stating the reason and then gave me a verbal job offer including salary. The reason they didn’t state a reason is probably because they didn’t want me to prepare to negotiate salary with them I suspect. So unfortunately we don’t have a way of knowing if you’re getting an offer or rejection because the way a meeting is set up for both types of meetings is the same.

Just say you’re busy till next week and ask them to tell you via email if possible.

Good idea. Unfortunately, I’ve already scheduled a call

I have an update for you or are you free to chat seems like a rejection though I have heard some get an offer instead. It’s 50-50, hang in there :)

What's the wording if offer?

Adobe Yvgtre176 Jan 25, 2018

Want to share good news/discuss the next steps or more detail updates instead of 1-2 liners. I got my rejection on Friday’s...was told that they prefer to deliver rejection on Friday. Sometimes, I feel it’s better to get rejection via email instead.

Same thing happened to me. Was a rejection

Could be anything.

Microsoft 974 Jan 25, 2018

Can be either. Rejection calls are sometimes made without scheduling them ahead of time.

Google ungoogley Jan 25, 2018

Same thing. Rejection. Usually they'll use leading words if it's positive "do you have time Friday so I can share some good news I received"?

Makes sense

Google s89 Jan 25, 2018

In my case he did not say good news. He did not even give any indication. It was positive for me
