Passed HC committee for L4. Now I have team matching phase. Recently, one of the team invited me for another round of onsite interview (which already very strange). After one hour conversation, manager told me that I am not good engineer (literally) at all, no match for his team. Some people from that team were arrogant during interview. Wtf, Google? After such case, i lost my motivation to join Google at all :(.
Tell me about difference of some programming languages. After I compared several languages, manager told that this is not impressive because everybody can read it on wikipedia. There were a couple of data structure questions, which i answered very well. One of the team member put a comment: “it sounds i asked very easy question”.
Dang. Savage.
WTF - were they having a bad day? I’m not a fan of total arrogance.
Team match is not equal to interview. Team match is a serious activity from Google perspective- I can understand your excitement and inclination to see Team match as a waste of time. Team managers can reject you . However , if the manager did tell you “you are not a good engineer” , it is really sad and not a representative of average Googlers reaction. Sorry for his behaviour . My suggestion would to discard such a feedback and wait for another team match option. In long run, this incident would not matter at all.
I believe, team matching is good thing. But it should not be so humiliating. It is fine to be rejected, but it is not good to give such feedback and behave so arrogant.
You should seriously report it with your recruiter, that's not acceptable. I also don't understand why would they ask knowledge questions if you aren't an specialist :/

If you passed HC, you are as good as any L4 at his team. You are a good engineer, fuck that arrogant guy. Wait for a team match, there are plenty, and let your recruiter know about this after it.
How did you respond when he said that you were not a good engineer? You could have told " hey at least I have basic decency unlike you". And turned to his Team member and said "I feel bad for you"and probably ended the conversation. It's a blessing in disguise OP. Probably arrogant aholes like him are consumed by power and will berate their team members daily everytime he couldn't get it up when trying to rub one out quick and make them feel like shit. You need to leave a review about this in Glassdoor and convey this to the recruiter and turn down the offer
Thanks for support!
Seems rude, not all people who work at Google are assholes, but there are many not most though, it’s unfortunate
U dont want to work w that team anyways. It’s a blessing in disguise
Maybe he was trying to discourage you from picking his team by being rude. Not acceptable either way. Definitely not representative of Google, so suggest you to ignore that and choose a team that you like. That said, not every team is made equal and there are teams where you find the brightest of the minds and an average googler won’t be a good fit even
That’s presumptive wouldn’t you think to prejudge someone as not capable
Sorry that sucks buddy!! What the heck did they ask you in that round?
