Got rejected thrice after Amazon onsite for SDM position. Received the same feedback each time about doing very well in the onsite but the team having liked someone else. Is there any point in applying for a fourth time? Especially when the feedback received doesn't tell you which areas need improvement.
No, didn't really ask about other teams. Everytime, I waited for one year and got approached by a recruiter for an open position after the end of the one year wait period
Wait period is 6 months unless you’re really marked for no hire I guess.
Are you white frat boy? In this case, you will be more liked.
Can you share your sdm interview experience with them? How many rounds, type of questions etc?
Five rounds of interviews each time. Mainly focusing on behavioral questions. One with the Product manager, one with the Director, one with a SDM, one with a TPM, one with a SWE. The only technical portion was with the SWE where I was asked to whiteboard a technical design solution for a use case related to high volume/low latency.
Thanks a lot!
Did you do well with the System Design?
Yes. I think I aced it and even gave a couple of alternate approaches that the interviewer felt were good options.
You might want to send a feedback request email to the recruiter to help you to learn on the mistake if at all any.Usually they don’t respond to these request but persisting on might get you the insights. I did this way and was successful in getting the feedback
In the past I had rejections for SDM due to lack of presenting scalable system design
Can you share what your questions were?
Did you ask if you could consider other teams. Amazon has tons of openings, if you truly passed the interview then you should easily get into Amazon
