Got the GC in hands (employment). How long to wait to create my company? (Without quitting yet) I will ask for passport in couple of years. The general consensus is 6 mo ths for quitting, but what about this scenario?
Six months is safe. Sooner if you can document a material change in your job that happened AFTER you got GC. A material change is not a better offer, something like you were unexpectedly reassigned, your project was cancelled, you got a new supervisor, etc, where you can show that it was the company, not you, that changed something that made it unattractive for you to stay.
You can ask for passport only in 5 years from getting GC
If your question is when can you have a side business: immediately. So long as you fulfill your commitment to work for the sponsor full-time.
Exactly my question!
Then go for it. USCIS will check your paystubs when you apply for citizenship to verify you did work for the sponsor, and your tax returns to verify you paid your taxes. That plus not committing any crimes is the main criteria. They won't care if you have a side business.
you can create your company now (LLC) or 1099 side gig. i did my side hustle 2 weeks after i got my GC
You can start now and work on the side.
Can you pls share your GC timeline and service center? I got my EAD card from NBC 10 days ago and waiting to move to interview stage.
