Quit high tc job for a girl
I'm looking to relocate closer to family and planning on attending both conferences - Grace Hopper and Society for Women Engineers (SWE) although I'm in IT. Any idea how much companies recruit from these? Is it worth the investment of registration, flights and stay?
I hired one last year from GHC list. Contacted quite a few but only limited response ma back from candidates. Our HR directive is to use GHC as a key resource
That's good to know!
Yes, it is. My friends got offers even before I started interviewing. It's like A shortcut to get interviews, so in my opinion, it's completely worth it.
Registered for the career fair only at SWE. May register for GHC too. Thank you for your input!
Cisco hires too
Good to know, thank you! Would you know if they hire mainly people who code or even others?
I know about Engineers because I am one. But I have seen non coders come and apply. We do route them to right channels but I am not sure about the hiring part.
I got my first job from grace hopper
Was it a role that required you to know how to code in something?
Generally we're looking for engineers. Not always software engineering but all engineers have some coding skills these days
Yes, its huge
Both of them are? Because this year GHC is in Orlando in October and SWE in November in Anaheim. I'm considering attending both, unsure which to skip.
Thank you, I do know quite a few languages but no experience in the recent past to demonstrate them and it's hard for me to properly explain project examples from years ago.
Yes although Apple only contacts the black women candidate so that we can get double the points for diversity
Twitter does for sure
Great, thank you!
