ixre63 Post same thing on Facebook. Btw I still believe not everyone is same and there are more good people than bad. I’m an Indian, always hired by white American managers, mostly worked with white Americans and they all are awesome!

The last time bunch of extremist try to push an Indian (Gandhi) out of train, he ended up finishing their Royal Empire from entire world. Think what will happen when you are trying to push many of them 😬.

Because there are many Indians in this world who want to immigrate. So? What's fair or unfair about it? The bodyshopping thing can be stopped without making it a country specific agenda.

The US owes us our humanity and fairness. The system now doesn't make sense. Also you're hating so much on Indians yet Chinese/Korean immigrants come in in droves without your rancor. You suffer from a colonial mentality where you want to put down your own people. We have enough people doing that for us without you hating more and giving us less support

Also world population is going from 7 billion to 9 billion by 2050, good luck maintaining the current so called unfair policy with that fact. The reason people break the rules or find work arounds (green card etc) is because the rules have no fair mechanism. Also how dare you say go back when we're a huge economic mechanism. Treat us humanely. Every human rights movement in the US was due to breaking the rule to get to a fairer more equal state (slave rights, voting rights, women's rights, civil rights etc etc etc )

There is no way for Indians to stay - it takes 10+ years to get work sponsorship while we pay US taxes to your corrupt government WITHOUT REPRESENTATION, hmmm wonder who didn't like that originally... you're just spoiled

Also we're a country of 1 billion with a huge youth population, good luck telling us to be less ambitious and tolerate less rights than others you selfish ingrate. Will not happen. The is just another-land mass on planet earth. As a human being we intrinsically can traverse earth as we want and will not lower our ambitions or expectation of equal treatment.

@vfxo68 your concerns are not valid. Extensions do not have anything to do with h1b quota. And coming to your next point, do you really think stopping h1b extension would solve the all the h1b abuse by bodyshops . Stopping the h1b extension will not solve any of your concerns.I think you need to realize and accept that you hate Indians so much that you would want to hurt them at first chance. If you are an American, I can understand your sentiment but if you are an immigrant pull your head out of your ass and go back to your country and start harassing the Indian immigrants there.

So many friends and co-workers would be out. I was born here, but my stomach just sinks thinking about this. Especially if they call it while so many people are visiting their parents on holidays. I do not want to start out 2018 helping friends pack up their homes. :(

Rant: ahh so now this is somewhat guaranteed to happen...those who still think it ain't, wake the fuck up. I was waiting for this sort of a write up to dispel all skepticism.

That being said, I don't know what Trump wants to get done here. If there are visa abuses, then go after the abusers with a big stick...hell I'll join him in doing so. Why make the legit guys suffer? Amazon pays me $180,000 in total for my code writing skills, which by the way are quite good (hence the pay). Not to mention the extra thousands the company pays to lawyers and attorneys just to keep me here. Why would Amazon or anyone else role out MORE per foreigner just to keep citizens out? Is Amazon/ Google/Apple secret societies out to spread unemployment? Or is there genuine shortage of skills? The evidence points to the latter. These companies are out to be as competitive as possible and they'll hire every us citizen they can get their hands on and when that does not satiate their desires, they hire foreign nationals. Good luck keeping these jobs in USA after this is finalised. It will have the exact opposite effect of "Hire American"....dumbass.

I grew up in a small town in India watching American movies. The primary reason I was inspired to come here. I thought "man what a country! Only one holding you back is yourself. The system let's you be the best you can be". I've honestly learned a lot here and because of this country, I'm a better person in every way. It was a dream to someday have the right to salute the American flag, but now I guess that seems unlikely. Trump may kick me out of the country but he can never kick the country out of me.

While your pessimism is warranted, I see this as more of scare tactics to discourage hiring of h1bs and make big tech support the h1b reform rather than being actual possibility. For starters, consider the way this was deliberately leaked to the press. The fall unified agenda did not contain anything related to this either. Ac21 is a long standing law and USCIS will get sued left and right for this and it will be worse than travel ban.

In spite of all of this, they would have atleast partially achieved the intended purpose as all this uncertainity will give h1b hiring a pause and some people would have voluntarily left

So the important thing is to stay strong, give your best and not lose hope

    • Amazon loOK76
@cashcow, yes it's part of ac21 but the law allows flexibility around extensions. Uscis can opt not to grant them. Scare tactics will hurt them actually and they know that. What happens if Trump 's base sees immigrants still around after so much rhetoric? They're waiting with baited breath for a show and Trump will not disappoint them
      Jan 1, 2018
    • VMware cashcow
It's not so simple. USCIS maybe has some flexibility on 3 year extension, but no flexibility on 1 year extension. Even for 3 year it's hard for them to just ignore the law without a good reason. That would be cited as capricious

Also, this is not really trump who is doing this. Trump is actually for high skilled immigration and only against illegals. It's that mfker Stephen Miller who is behind all this and he is using trump as his mouth piece. The new dhs head is also not that crazy and is an ex-bush alum.

I think h1b needs to be based on merit. Then both sides will be happy. Us wants Facebook and Google and Microsoft engineers from India, not Infosys and tcs engineers who got h1b in 2007.

The administration wants those with white skin only. South Asians don't fit the profile of desirable immigrants. You need to understand what got Trump elected in the first place. They can't say it out loud or there'll be he'll to pay so they go after wherever they can to further their agenda under some fake excuse
      Jan 1, 2018
    • Medallia fitty
How is it not already based on merit? You are misinformed. It takes a lot of proof, evidence, designations etc to get H1B, it's not as easy as your uninformed newsfeed would have you believe. Just white people acting scared again to treat others like shit. Just history repeating itself. Happy new year.

If there is a limit and a lottery is done, it is not merit based. Merit implies a sorting order based on Salary or points or something.

Anyway I do believe h1b is abused by many consulting companies and body shops.

Continue: USA is built on the sweat and blood of it's immigrants which made this a uniquely successful experiment in political history. That success cannot be sustained with xenophobia. I have met so many amazing American people. Dated an American girl once too. Maybe someday these same people will take the country back from racists snake oil salesmen currently in power. This is the hope I take back with me. Good luck and god bless

If this happens the jobs will just go offshore. You won’t fill the positions in the key tech hiring markets, those companies won’t have a choice.

Correct. But the Republicans and Trump don't actually care. They run on an anti foreigner platform and every foreigner who leaves is a win in their mind.

You see guys posting here that they think this will enable them to buy a bigger home even though it will absolutely fuck up their employer.

      These people don't think.

Not going to happen. Read the article, John miano the most anti-h1b activist says something like this has to pass Congress. All these are games to make Indians deport voluntarily or make tech support h1b reform
