This question is asked at many interviews and I have heard different answers.. infact recently I was interviewed at facebook and I did say that yes i fired some one but looked like interviewer wanted to hear otherwise. I gave my explanation why it was important since it was hurting team performance and i tried everything before taking this step. Is it wrong answer for facebook interview because of social culture? Would like to hear from people who successfully got into facebook and other companies and how did they handle this?
Why would an interviewer want to hear that you didn't ever fire anyone? That's not really your choice unless you want to let totally crap people keep working for you and drag the team down
Maybe your explanation had something to do with it. I always give my responses in the most PC of terms with lots of icing on top
There isn’t a right or wrong answer. Most of the content we are looking for is in our follow-up questions.
Maybe something you said reminded the interviewer of themselves.
Infact my firing was due to attitude of the person which could not be resolved after so many attempts and it was bringing the team performance down... your point is this interviewer may have the same attitude problem...😁
Tricky question. Honesty is the best thing. I was asked a flavor of this Q and i did say something similar to what u said.
