Seen a couple of these titles on LinkedIn. What level is this? L7? Or director level?
It’s a made up title for LinkedIn, but I usually see it for L6s or L7s shooting for a more senior leadership role outside Amazon.
It’s usually used by L7’s, with a lack of self-confidence, to indicate that everyone else on the team are asses of the product :-)
Lol
Can be anything L5 to L7. Doesn’t have to be made up by the person, the manager can come up with any title as long as HR and his/her boss agree.
Am going in as Sr. PM-T. Can I negotiate Head of Product title? :)
Not sure about negotiating, most of the time the title has some indication of the scope and responsibility of the role. So if you are not the Head of something it’s hard for the hm giving you such title. But sometimes there is room to discuss the exact title.
Yeah man, people who use that title are full of shit. You’re either a PM, Sr PM, Principle PM or a Manager/Sr Mgr of PM.
I think a Sr. Manager of PM who is the head of product for a major group is justified in using that title. If a Sr. PM uses it, that is full of shot indeed.
There are some job descriptions for head of product and they look similar to that of director.
If someone is a director, they will say, "I'm a director". Without that, you are looking at L6 or L7.
There is no such title and insecure people use it as a way to hide their low level
I'm interviewing for this exact title. It does exist
My recruiter says it's designated for L7 but can go up 1 or go down 1 depending on how you interview
