What is the insurance provider(s) for your company? Does your company directly use Aetna, Kaiser, UHC, etc?
At Facebook we recently switched from directly using Aetna to now using a third party (Meritain who is still Aetna backed) and it's been 'interesting' to say the least. We do still have the Kaiser HMO that is more stable.
A shout-out to our benefits team though who is trying their best to handle the situation
- They administer your health benefits right? Just wondering what the issues you're experiencing are? Are the doctors you want to see not in network? Surely if you have your ID card and they're in network, seeing them shouldn't be a problem?
- That is correct. The Doctors covered are still the same, however, the issue is the office staff not understanding how to bill the new company even though they are "in network"
This means that employees are having either to (1) pay out of pocket then submit the bill later for reimbursement, or (2) spend 30 minutes to an hour working with the provider to get them to figure out billing, or (3) have a provider decline or cancel appointments.
We're told right now it's just growing pains and it hopefully will go away.Jan 40
