Hedge funds salaries?

A recruiter from a hedge fund contacted me claiming 250k-300k in NYC.

It sounds like BS, especially since I have 3 years experience. Anyone know?

160k is new grad compensation at Google without any competing offers.

@Cisco, whether or not you're underpaid depends on whether or not you can get a higher offer.

$250k-$300k for hedge fund does not seem crazy considering with 3 years of exp considering Google and FB will pay $200k-$250k in NYC.

Actually, I also got 230k in MTV as a new graduate with a lot of competing offers. So it's should be low ball.

Depends if 300k base or with bonus. If it includes bonuses, then it seems low but my hedge fund friends maybe exaggerating. Apparently they are making half a million.

I have worked as a lead engineer at multiple hedge funds. 200-300k is possible for senior people. You probably won’t make more unless you are directly responsible for making investments. For a tech person that would be a quant pm role. Most of those guys are Stanford / MIT phds

  • I have a friend in the space. $250K-$300K total package is possible, but most if it is bonus and options, not salary.

For a salary at that level, you need at least 7-10 years of direct relevant experience.
