Late last year I had two offers from two small companies (Company A and B) for Head of Finance role paying the same base salary and total compensation. Neither of the company would offer equity. I ended up accepting the offer with Company A where I am currently working. Fast forward 8 months and my current company has decided to hire a VP of Finance as a back-up for our CEO. Because I am young (mid 30s), the board feels that we should hire a VP who has at least 25 yrs of experience. This kind of disappointed me as I might soon be reporting to a VP instead of a CEO. Surprisingly, last week Company B reached out and asked me if I am still interested in the role as it is still open. Here are the comparisons based on the updated situations: Company A (TC $215k, round trip commute 20 min. & reporting to VP),. Company B (TC $250k including $20k sign-up bonus, round trip commute at least 2 hours, & reporting to SVP). Working hours will likely be same at both the companies. Should I stay with Company A or move to Company B? Thank you.
