I got an offer from Home Depot e-commerce group for Sr. Data Scientist while Pandora offered me a position for Research Scientist. They both offer almost the same TC so which one to choose?
I’d go with Pandora. Retail is limited on bottom line growth.
If Pandora is still around..market is pretty saturated there. Home Depot isn't going anywhere anytime soon .
Roles in same location? Personally I'd go with HD since their business model is fundamentally far stronger and enormous barriers to entry
Yes, both in Atlanta
I know Pandora has hired some people in Atlanta that previously worked at home depot. Maybe try to do a search on linkedin and reach out to those people for their thoughts
Too much work
Could u share the TC?
Please share range of the offers. Curious to know what they pay in Atlanta.
200K - 240K
240k in Atlanta for Pandora? I’m surprised.
Why r u surprised? Is it low or high? This actually match the Atlanta market.
E-Com group has a lot power right now in Home Depot. Lots of investment and opportunity.
Pandora culture is unparalleled. Bias of course but it really is different from other companies. People actually care about each other and about the product. Pandora’s making a huge investment in the now expanded Atlanta office so expect Atlanta to be HQ 2.0. If you work in tech then the Pandora name will likely do you a lot better than Home Depot. If you’re a scientist at Pandora you’ll be tinkering around with what makes Pandora special and what Pandora has always been doing (great recommendations and knowing what people like to listen to).
Not everything is perfect here: Unable to make a decision. Rewarding the old-guard. Laying off those who speak against the old-guard. Low compensation. Lack of innovation.
Scientist team at Pandora is phenomenal, and Atlanta office is growing in great ways.
Negotiate with competing offers
My question is which company is better for my career and which culture is better
