Just used up my Starwood points so am asking the hive what the best hotel loyalty club is?. I travel 25-40% with international. Am willing to get the attached credit card as well. Thanks!
Marriott and SPG are merging
Yes but the merge is not 1:1. Marriot points are worth more than Starwood Points, so having a Marriot balance is preferable to a Starwood balance.
bullshit. 1 SPG = 3 Marriott. They are exchangeable in that ratio any time for over a year know. Neither of the balances is preferable as the exchange is instantaneous.
Make sure you're airline miles and credit card are complementary too.
Hilton isn’t bad. I’ve got Hilton and Marriott
I think your points are worth more at Hyatt than any of the others mentioned so far. They aren’t in as many goes but if you stay in mostly metro areas they give most free nights that I know of.
Another option to consider is Rocketmiles.com. Instead of hotel points you can get airline miles, or even Amazon gift cards. I’ve used it a few times where promo hotels paid $300 amazon gift card for an $800 stay.
I’d be suspicious that a third party who need a slice of the action could ever be more lucrative than the in-house schemes and promotions. The only reason to go external is if you can’t easily redeem the points.
Get american express platinum. 5× points on airfare and hotels if directly purchased on their website or thru amex. And you still get miles and free nights offered by the airlines or hotels.
Marriott/SPG for the redemption options, Hyatt for the redemption values.
I like marriot & hilton
