What should tech companies do about the rising cost of housing in the Bay Area? Surely increasing pay alone isn’t the solution. Ideas: - Relocating large groups of employees to cheaper locales - Subsidized housing - Housing facilities, like the military and diplomatic community does Interested to hear everyone’s thoughts!
Your office are now sleep-able
Id sleep at the office tbh
Cry babies making TC of $250K+ ($500K household income) are crying about the home prices out of reach! Folks from India and China have been paying $200K over asking. What are you talking about?
Those folks came with luggage full of cash.
Loafer where did you stash your money?
Open new offices in the cheaper areas. For example far east Bay can get some love. Stockton maybe? Why is it all big companies are in one spot?
Hayward
All big companies are in one spot bc that is where all the talent is. Many good developers are not in Stockton and would not move there unless you gave them an incentive. And real good talent doesn't have to move to stockton in order to buy a cheap house, they can afford one in thr bay area. I am a good dev. I work at bloomberg bc of the hours and convenient commute. If they remove either item from me i am gone bc i can get another job and prob make more.
We need more housing to be built in general because of the number of new people that come to bay area annually.
Offer remote work
Decentralize. Populate the other 3.5 million square miles of the US. Housing market crash will introduce some significant changes. When the next major earthquake comes, Bay Area will be a ghost town relatively speaking.
Pay less TC
Contribute to politicians who pledge to build more housing. Upzone this mother fucker and watched prices stabilize/fall
