The ISP in my home country is providing ridiculous data and call services for its users. The internet service is slow, the calls are not reliable, and the most annoying part of it is that they deduct the data plan and call minutes very quickly that the customers end up not getting any value for it. I'm tired of this each time my sister complains to me that she can't chat for long with me because her internet data plan finishes quickly. It's sad they turn off their data always. I want to disrupt this market by tapping the network directly from any America ISP companies to connect the 5 countries I am targeting in Africa.
I've heard of people using directional wifi antennas to spread connectivity to underserved areas. This will only work if there's a fiber hookup somewhere nearby, and there could be issues with the terms of service for that fiber hookup.
Thanks! Care to tell me more, please!? Especially the balloon project by google.
Ubnt.com has good startup gear.
I've launch a couple carriers, DM me thoughts if you want
A couple of resources I saved a while back related to this topic: https://startyourownisp.com/ https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=16160394
ISPs are regulated by government. Lot of governments in Africa make it difficult for new entrants in order to protect incumbents. You need to connect to a fiber interconnect. It's a very simple business like selling water, nothing hi tech; as soon as economics work out investment rushes in.
Never heard of this. I will definitely start my internet research about this. Any resources you could share, please? Is it reliable than Metro by Tmobile?
