I have seen many incompetent people reach director and senior director level just because they are good at talking. How is this possible ? How far can these people go ?
One super senior once told me, skill set for a IC + middle level manager is very different than that for director+executives. As a result lot of what we consider good people are considered stuck at those levels and people who were terrible IC or middle manager, once they cross that hump by hook or crook become very successful directors/executives.

That’s true. I have seen people n my company joined way earlier , holding big titles and not technically too sound
They had spurts of luck that were mistaken for exceptional competence.
These people can become the leader of the free world, the Whitehouse, so ya they go very far.

Not knowing what they are talking about, just fabricating stuff on the go, etc.
