random question: is it just my bad luck or is it everyone’s experience? I feel like about every other flight I take has been delayed for at least couple of hours, in most extreme cases it’s twelve. This is specific to domestic (including Canada) flights, trans-ocean ones were usually ok except like one time. I’ve never experienced this many delays back when I flew around Europe / Asia a lot. I feel like I’m losing my mind today - woke up at 5 to get on 7:35am, and still at the departure airport at 6:35pm. Granted i was rebooked on this one, and the actual delay of it is like 4 hours, but given that rebooking was also airlines fault...
You should be getting reimbursed by your airline or credit card company
Why / How? In US there are no regulations about delays and such. In Canada (I fly from Canada) they kick in in two weeks, and when delay is not weather related. I wasn’t technically overbooked as far as I can tell, so I don’t qualify for ‘bumping’ compensation. And my credit card can reimburse me for my Uber downtown and food as part of travel insurance. but why would they reimburse me for the ticket
With that said, I did file complain, called hotline and questioned agents about some sort of compensation (not quite successful with the agents, we’ll see how complain goes), so maybe I’ll get something. I doubt it would be worth 12 hours of my Sunday though.
Dear friend try meditation and mindfulness exercise. Take a deep breath it can help calm you down in the shittiest situations. Good luck. Don’t let external situations ruin your day (Typing this as my flight just got delayed for 3 hours)
if you don't mind, where were you headed/ are at? Have a trip coming up & am similarly concerned
I am traveling between the Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest on a short 2 hr flight. I wonder the google flight delay prediction tool is any good. https://www.forbes.com/sites/bishopjordan/2018/03/20/how-to-predict-flight-delays-using-google-flights/#6232013141c2 Also when you book your flight on some sites like kayak show statistics of the on-time performance of a flight before you book it. PS not that any of these modern technological tools matter according to my superstitious parents. Bad things keep happening to me because I don’t worship their gods and obey them. 🤣
It depends on the cause of the delay. After all, it’s not like the weather varies by airline.
While back I had horrible delays trying to go to Pittsburgh from Boston. After much bullshit I just went to Enterprise and drove. Wouldn’t have worked for much longer distance but my god do I hate airlines.
Call the airline or go to the customer service counter. But don’t rely on the agents to give you other options. Search yourself for alternate flights (they may involve connecting thru different airports or landing at a “coterminal” airport for example SJC instead of SFO). Propose an alternate routing to the agent and see if you can get rebooked that way.
There was no better routes indeed, I’ve checked. Not the most popular route.
