I am joining Facebook in few days. My recruiter told me that I will get to choose a team after the Bootcamp. How does this team selection work exactly? How are the teams matched? Does the team decide which candidates they want to take in ?
You will get the opportunity to chat with managers, attend team meetings, meet teams, and do small (but very real!) tasks with the team. You'll have time enough to try this with a few teams. As long as they have the open headcount and you get along well enough with them you'll be able to join the team. There are resources within the company to help you discover the teams to explore too. Don't stress about it! It'll all make sense when you get here. =) Welcome!
You get 90% of the choice. Teams with headcount rarely say no assuming you're truly interested.
...and most teams have headcount. Or more teams have ability to hire than we have new hires.
It's a low stress experience. Many more teams have headcount than there are new people to fill those teams. Enjoy your time and pick what feels right.
Just don't suck, and you'll be able to work on something you're passionate about.
Hey I was told for product design roles you don't go through bootcamp but rather have a hire decision plus level and then find teams?
