Buying a house is something I definitely want to do in 5-7 years when I’m 25-28 years old. I want a pretty decent sized home too (about 3-5k sq ft) with 3-4 bedrooms. Homes like these are like $1-2million+ in the Bay Area and even in the Seattle area, and so I was wondering how long did it take you guys to purchase your first decent house after getting your initial job out of college.
How do you save enough?
I’m low maintenance and so would only need to spend about $30k a year on expenses and more than half of that is housing.
Trust me, even a 1500sqft 3bd SFH home is much better than 3bd apartment. You don’t need all those 3k sqft until your children are like 7-10+ yo.
29 years old and still haven't. Looking to move out of the bay area to find something remotely affordable.
Lol. There are no homes in bay area that are nice and over 3000 sqft that sells for under 2 Mill. You may have to go to dublin to get that.
Or Evergreen
3-5k sq feet in Bay Area 😂 Good luck 🤣
Yea I mean I personally probably won’t be buying a house in the Bay Area but I was wondering how others do so. I’ll probably move somewhere south
lol what are you smoking. was extremely lucky to buy my 2k sf place for 1.5 mil. 7 years ago.
Damn that’s not worth lol how’d you get $1.5million? Or are you still paying it off? I hope to buy a house outright or pay it off within a couple of years
300k+ down and good cashflow to pay 5k mortgage a month and 18k property tax yearly... not rocket science.. but pretty hard
You said you want to buy one in 5-7 yrs when you are 25-28 yrs old, are you like 18 right now ??
3-5k sqft?!? LOL are you high?
Rofl 5k sq feet
3k sq feet is huge for the Bay Area! Took me 4 years, but with spouse, to buy first house at 1.4k sq feet. 3 bed rooms + 2 living rooms, plenty enough for a family
How much did it cost?
700k at the time, double now
