I've seen posts like these before, but I felt I should ask again, as times are a constantly a-changin. What's required these days for successful onsites? I'm currently completing about 70-80% of leetcode Mediums that I attempt, in close to optimal complexity, in about 30-40 minutes, including corner cases, etc, without help. For Easy's, it's 90%, in about 20 minutes on average. I've completed in total about 60 leets. It took me 6 weeks to get here, given that I average about 10-15 questions a week, less if my current job has a busy week. My choices are to apply now or wait another 2-3 months to get comfortable with Hards, and apply. The tradeoff is that who knows if I'd get in in 2-3 months? Given that, I'm thinking of taking the plunge and just applying, and if I fail totally, come back in a year. FWIW, I'm in SoCal, so my main targets would be G, N, Snap, Amazon, MSFT. Also, any insight on SoCal interview standards in particular would help. I'd be applying close to entry level, maybe L4 as I'm trying to switch from QA.
How many LeetCode-style questions have you solved? (Career) https://us.teamblind.com/s/ApuSVBkp
All or nothing!
JK there's no common number. What prioritize what to solve ( top 150 FAQ and top FB/G)
About 250 is all you need. If you can’t get hired after that rep count, you’re doing something wrong or fundamentally missing the strategy of how to solve these problems.
This is the answer. Lock the thread.
consensus seems to be 250. Which means, at my current rate, 4-5 more months. Ouch. Not what I wanted to hear, but sometimes you gotta listen to what you don't wanna hear......
Your rate will improve with the number of leets you solve. I’d say 2 months
Hey, wait a minute! What about this guy https://www.teamblind.com/article/Google-offer-%7C-Thank-you-Blind-%7C-AMA-rCUrEZE4 Says he only did 130. Yes, yes, I know, maybe he got lucky or is smart or both. but......
I think about 100 should be enough for Amazon if you can answer(or bs) through the leadership principles questions and the design round. PM me know if you are interested and I can refer you to L4/L5 roles in SoCal.
Do you guys ask harder LC questions for sde3 vs sde1/2?
The technical questions would be more or less same for SDE3 interviews as well I.e., LC mediums. But more emphasis will be given on your LP answers and they will dig through multiple levels of your story. Don’t think you can really fake them. And also design rounds would have more complex systems.
Yeah I got into amazon as SDE II with 6 weeks of prep (while working full time). Never even attempted a leetcode or CTCI problem before that 6 weeks. So it definitely can be done. Google might require a little more prep but you seem ready to at least start the process with some companies
Just skip the easy and medium questions.
60 is nothing. Solve at least 250+
For 250+, what would you say a good easy/med/hard ratio is?
80/120/50
