How to Leetcode?

Do you need to have a certain level of intelligence to even think about leetcoding? I consider myself above average programmer but I find it hard to solve even an easy leetcode problem. So to all leetcoders out there, what does it take and do I even stand a chance? TC ~200 in Phoenix. ~15 yoe

Do you have a CS degree?

Amazon pyninja Oct 15, 2019

Turns out being able to write code != problem solving

Yes I do. MS. Used to do pretty good network programming back in the day but haven’t been programming as much lately which might be part of the problem

There it is

Oracle not_larry Oct 15, 2019

Leetcode is just practice if you have CS basics. Happy Leetcoding

He's right. Just cruise with that fine low cost living.

So would you swap places with me?

Start with the book “cracking the coding interview”, if you are totally out of shape.

eBay nan19 Oct 15, 2019

It starts slow, you have to have some discipline. After some time, you starts to enjoy it. Also, "just do it" attitude is required. Some people like to start from top and work down the list, "two sum". And they get bored and stop solving problems. Depending upon how you want to work, pick a problem, and do it! Also, apply at fake companies like "Flexport", who just want to test out their interviewers and promote KARAT, take few interviews, do overs and see how you are doing. Good luck!

Flexport appears to be decent company as per glassdoor review. Why you said fake company?

eBay nan19 Oct 16, 2019

They are looking for 45 engineers... it is BS!

Must have intelligence 8+ or intelligence 7+ and charisma 6+

Remember...one step ata time. Watch youtube videos on Leetcode.

This works!

Just search stack overflow, lol

I just hit 225 problems completed today. Started not being able to do the easiest ones (like literally had no idea how to start them), now I can pretty comfortably do most mediums in 10-15 minutes and hards in 30-40, barring the occasional odd problem that has a weird trick. There's probably an intelligence barrier or something like that on the very hardest problems, but everything else (i.e., what's needed for interviews) is definitely learnable via CTCI and lots of practice. If I can do it you can do it because I'm definitely not an above average programmer.

Thomson Reuters hswb27 OP Oct 15, 2019

How long did it take you to get to that point?

eBay nan19 Oct 15, 2019

CTCI?
